Armel Quentin “Gil” Gillman, age 77 of Springfield, passed away Friday, September 10, 2021 at Wright Rehabilitation Center. Gil was born in Mingo Co., WV on May 14, 1944 to James and Virginia (Hay) Gillman, both of whom preceded him in death, as did his brother, James D. Gillman. He is survived by his wife of six years, Bonnie Gillman, as well as four sons: Todd (Julie) Gillman, Patrick (Julie) Gillman, Joseph (Trecie) Gillman, and Matthew (Shannon) Gillman. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild, a brother, Aaron Gillman, and two sisters: Nola Osborne and Wanda Hicks. He is survived by a nephew, Lee Clark, step-children; Lisa Johnson and Greg Johnson, and friend John Decker. Gil was a US Navy Veteran (1964-1966) and worked as an outside salesman at NAPA Auto Parts for 37 years. He loved to coach any sport and was an avid golfer and motorcyclist. He was a member of Christian Fellowship Church in Springfield and of the Yellow Rockers Square Dance Group. A funeral service will be held at Burcham-Tobias Funeral Home, 119 E. Main St. Fairborn, OH 45324 on Friday, September 17 at 11 AM. Visitation will be held at the funeral home 1 hour prior to the funeral service; interment will be in Byron Cemetery.
