Joyce B. Faria, age 74, of Seffner, Florida passed away on Saturday, September 11, 2021. Joyce was born August 14, 1947 in Tampa, FL, the daughter of Ralph Green and Juanita (Nellums) Green and sister to Ronnie Green.
Joyce attended Oak Park Elementary, Franklin Jr. High and graduated from King High School. She continued her education and graduated from the University of South Florida with a Bachelors in English Education and a minor in Journalism. Joyce was an 8th grade English teacher for 32 years in the Hillsborough County Public School System of Florida. Joyce married in 1969 to Robert Faria. She grew her family and gave birth to her daughter, Robyn Faria, and son, Ryan Faria soon after.
Joyce was very creative, and had so many skills and talents from writing, teaching, decorating, cooking, painting, having wit and wisdom and a sense of humor, being spiritual, passionate, kind, empathetic, giving and putting her special touch on everything to being a loving and caring daughter, sister, niece, wife, mother, sister-in-law, grandma-ma to cat Sophie, cousin and friend. She enjoyed a good book, going to movies, plays, musicals, concerts and creating gardens. She loved music and would often say, “that’s my song.” She said she could have as many as she wanted. She enjoyed being with family and friends and having fun. Joyce touched so many lives, both professionally and personally. Her eyes could tell a thousand stories and her smile could make you feel safe and loved. We will carry our “Magnolia Queen” in our hearts, and know that she carried you in hers.
Joyce was preceded in death her parents Ralph and Juanita Green; her son, Ryan Faria; and her brother, Ronnie Green.
Survivors include her loving husband of 52 years, Robert "Bob" Faria and her daughter, Robyn Faria.
Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, a family-only funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at 12 noon at Blount & Curry, Terrace Oaks Chapel, Temple Terrace. All are welcome to join the service via livestream by visiting www.blountcurryterraceoaks.com. Interment at New Hope Cemetery, Brandon. A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date for all.
