Amos “Sunshine” Matory Jr. born September 7th, 1948 passed away peacefully in his home on September 12th, 2021 in Ferndale, Washington on the Lummi Nation Reservation. He was born in Jackson, Mississippi to his father Amos Matory Sr. and mother Verdell Matory. Amos was raised in Tougaloo, Mississippi until he was 16 years old. Amos at the age of 16, decided to move away from his home and pursue a career in mechanics in the state of Utah. There, he met his first wife Lucille Phair and they settled together at the Lummi Nation Reservation located in Washington State. Amos and Lucille had one son named Maurice Phair in the year of 1971. Amos and Lucille parted ways shortly after and he was introduced to Eveline Joseph at a church in Bellingham, Washington. They later got married and had a daughter named Rachel Matory in October of 1977. Later, Amos, Eveline and Rachel had moved to the Sauk-Suiattle Indian Reservation located in Darrington, Washington. Amos then proudly developed his successful construction company “Native A’s” and helped the surrounding areas of the Sauk-Suiattle tribe and the town of Darrington with his trade. Amos was a hardworking, a loving husband, and a caring father and grandfather. Amos is preceded in death by his father, mother and sister Vernell. Amos leaves behind his sister Tolena, brother Morris, son Maurice, daughter Vickie Hawkins, daughter Rachel, his twelve grandchildren, great grandchildren and his loving friends. Funeral services will be held at the Sauk-Suiattle Recreation Center located at 6020 Mountain Goat Way, Darrington Washington, 98241 at 10:00AM on September 20th 2021.
