Frances (Briand) Desmarais, age 72, of Fall River, passed away Sunday, September 26, 2021 in Charlton Memorial Hospital comforted by her family. She was the wife of the late Normand Desmarais, Sr. to whom she was married for 50 years before his passing in 2018.
Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Leo Briand and Emily (Hamer) Briand she was a longtime resident of the city.
She attended BMC Durfee High School and earned her LPN from Diman Regional Vocational Technical School. Her career as a Licensed Practical Nurse was spent at Southpointe Nursing and Rehabilitation and Americare Healthcare Agency. Skilled at crafts, she enjoyed sewing, creating and making outfits, but mostly baking her “famous cookies” which were her late granddaughter’s favorite. Frances loved her church family from Refuge Church in Warren, RI.
She is survived by two sons, Normand Desmarais, Jr. of Fall River and his fiancé Lisa of Lakeville and Jason Desmarais and his wife Rebecca of Somerset; one daughter, Tonya Lee Desmarais of Fall River; three brothers, Frederick, Leo and Steven Briand; seven grandchildren, William Desmarias and his wife Krissany, Joshuah, Rydge, Noah and Jacob Desmarais, L. Michael Marzilli and Serena Smart; one great-granddaughter, Delia Desmarais and many nieces and nephews. She was the grandmother of the late Skylar Ann Desmarais and sister of the late Ernest Briand.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 8, 2021 at 11:00 am in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St., Fall River. Visiting hours will be prior to the service from 9:00 - 11:00 am. Relatives and friends invited. Burial will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
