Shawn Michele Beckstead passed away at home surrounded by her family on October 2nd at the age of 59 after a year-long battle with cancer. She was born October 22nd, 1961, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Charles and Sharon Beckstead, and spent her early years in Idaho and Utah. Most of her adult life was spent in Billings, Montana and Spokane, Washington.
The most important things to Shawn were her children, Tyler and Amanda, and her grandchildren, Lucas, Rhiannon, Halla, and Nova. She loved taking her grandchildren on road trips, collecting rocks and gems, listening to music, and making memories. Shawn was a free spirit who enjoyed traveling, motorcycles, and music. Anyone who knew her was aware of her fanaticism of The Beatles, Stevie Nicks, and Billy Holliday.
Ty, Mandy, Lacee, and James, Shawn and Shannon’s children, would spend their childhood summers together between Montana and Washington. The sisters were so close that their children were raised together as siblings rather than cousins. This created a bond between the cousins that is still strong today.
Shawn was preceded in death by her mother, Sharon. She is survived by her children, Ty(Jess) and Mandy, her father Charles, her stepmother, Patty, brothers Kevin(Judy), Isaac(Amber), sisters Shannon, Kelli(Rayne), and Kimberly(Steve), her grandchildren; Lucas, Rhiannon, Halla, and Nova, 14 nieces and nephews, and 6 great nieces and nephews.
Shawn was loved by all who knew her, but mostly by her family. She has shared with us a love of music, love of family, love of life. She has left a part of herself in each of our hearts. As she lived her life, may she rest in Peace and Love.
Per Shawn’s request, there will be no public services. Please celebrate her life in your own way. The family will have a private celebration of life next spring in the Rocky Mountains that she loved so much.
