Hollie C. Bowen Jr.

Hollie C. Bowen, born October 24, 1939, in Prague, Oklahoma to Hollie C. Bowen Sr. and Kathleen Horton Bowen, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2021, in the comfort of his own home, in Oklahoma City, OK.

Hollie Bowen was many things. A graduate of Wellston High School, veteran in the Army National Guard 45th Infantry, retired telephone man at Southwestern Bell in Weatherford, Oklahoma City, Clinton, and Moore for 40 years, a gardener with an incredible green thumb, master woodworker, and if you couldn't reach him by phone, he was probably "out in the kitchen baking bread". His brisket was the headliner at every family reunion and everyone loved his homemade rolls. His sons, Mark and Michael knew him to be a jack-of-all-trades with advice on any home improvement project, while his three grandkids and three great-grandkids knew him as one of the sweetest men to walk the earth. His love for his wife, Coleta Baskett, knew no limits. They met at Hollie's Drive-In in Oklahoma City and would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on October 13th. They loved going on cruises together and trips to Johnnies for a burger. Anyone who has taken their picture knows that he always took a moment to admire her beautiful smile while they stood together. We sure wish we could admire his smile one last time.

Hollie is preceded in death by his mother and father, sister Betty Real, and brother William Banks.

Hollie is survived by his wife, Coleta Bowen; son, Mark and his wife LouAnn; son, Michael and his wife, Glenda; grandchildren, Holly Morrow and her husband, Chad Morrow, Madisyn Bowen, and Connor Bowen; great-grandchildren, Conlee, Gracee, and Andee Morrow, his sister, Elda Davis and her husband, Jim; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Marvin & Gingy Baskett, Gwen and Roger Halverson, Donna Beyers, and Dewane Baskett, and his many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and Virginia cousins.

Funeral services will be held at Quail Springs Baptist Church on May Ave in Oklahoma City, OK, on Friday, October 8, 2021 at 2:00 p.m., with interment to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens with Military Honors.
