Ron was born in Elk Point, Alberta, on October 30th, 1953 to George and Alice Arnold. He grew up in Victoria, BC and was the eldest of 7 children. During his childhood he was involved in Scouts, playing drums, fishing with his dad and brothers, and attending youth group at First United Church. This is where he met his wife, Eileen. They settled in Mission where they raised their 4 children.
Ron was a family man, who had many passions. Ron loved working with wood as he was a hardworking planerman millwright. He took on many projects, including building his own home, a canoe, many decks and furniture for his children. His work was always to perfection and personal.
Ron was an inquisitive learner and was always watching documentaries about the natural and human world. He used his artistic abilities to drum, draw, create pancake characters and transform unwanted pumpkins into epic faces. Ron’s imagination instilled joy in people. He passed along memories and knowledge by telling scenic stories. Ron welcomed everyone into his home where he made them feel like family.
Due to covid restrictions a private family Memorial Service will be held on October 30th, 2021 at St. Andrews United Church in Mission. A Zoom link will be available upon request.
