Hazel and James Campbell Cook were married for 74 years. Hazel was born in Kosse, Texas, to Clark L. Ayers and Bess L. Ayers on June 14, 1926; she graduated from Memphis High School in 1944. Hazel was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother. Hazel loved her Lord, shared that love with her children and friends, and was a member of Calvary Baptist for over 40 years. Hazel is survived by her son, Robert Cook and wife, Sarah, of Rockwall, her daughter, Donna C. Denton of Little Elm, her son, John D. Cook of Lubbock, her daughter, Marianne Anthony of Cumming, Georgia, her daughter, Mendy Billingsley and husband, Barry, of Weatherford, 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, James, her parents, Clark L. Ayers and Bess L. Ayers, and her son James M. Cook.
A graveside service will be held at Resthaven Tuesday, October 12, at 10:00 a.m. with a gathering of family and friends to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or your favorite charity.
