Carol Rhyne McClendon passed away peacefully on October 8, 2021, at 84 years old. A majority of her life was spent in Georgia, where she was a special education teacher for over 40 years after earning her Master’s in Education. Throughout this time, she touched the hearts of countless children and adults alike with the devotion she held for her career. She was a loving wife to Tom, a wonderful friend to many, and a dedicated mother and grandmother. She is survived by Tracy and Trey Downey, Michael and Lauren Rhyne, and three beautiful granddaughters. Carol’s joyful personality and warmth were contagious, her smile one to light up a room. All those who knew her can attest to the kindness she spread wherever she went. Even throughout the later years of her life, after her Parkinson’s diagnosis, she dedicated herself to organizing and funding support groups for Parkinson’s research. Her passionate soul and strength shone through in the many ways she helped others. Though she may have physically passed on, she is still with us in all the lives she has brightened. Graveside services will be conducted on Sunday, the 10th of October at two o’clock in the afternoon at Arlington Memorial Park. in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the National Parkinson’s Foundation.
