He passed away in Lancaster California after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be held on Friday November 5, 2021 at 1:00pm at Eternal Valley Memorial
Park & Mortuary. The Graveside service will follow at 2:00pm
Larry was born in Harrisburg Illinois to his Parents Lawrence “Red” Carter and Henrietta
Charlene Hood.
He married the love of his life Edna Decker on September 17, 1977 they were married for 36
years.
He was a devoted father to his two daughters Deana and Cindy and the proudest grandfather to
Michael, Morgan, Raven, Maverick, Rylee and Jax as well as a great grandfather to Peyton,
Ava, Charlotte, Brady, Katilyn, Madisyn, Mackenzie & Cayden.
Larry was a hard working man who loved his job immensely and spent over 25 years working for
Department of Water and Power. He made many close friends who became extended family
and that he loved and cherished.
Larry loved his friends and family fiercely and spent his free time traveling with many of them.
After he retired he fulfilled his lifelong dream to travel cross country with his beloved wife and
visited many family and friends along the way.
He was a proud member of the Elks Club and loved nothing more than visiting his friends for
Sunday breakfast down at the Elks Lodge.
He was a devout lover of John Wayne and NASCAR and could always be found watching the
Sunday races or a John Wayne marathon.
Larry was preceded in passing by his loving wife Edna, his sister in law Brenda Carter and his
Granddaughter Raven Knight.
He is survived by his daughters Deana Ward(Steve) & Cindy Knight(Christian), his
grandchildren Michael Ward(Rebecca), Morgan Lane(Eric), Maverick, Rylee and Jax Knight; His
great grandchildren Peyton, Ava, Charlotte, Brady & Katilyn Ward and Madisyn, Mackenzie &
Cayden Lane. His sisters Valerie Wilburn(Larry) and Jeanette Harris(Dennis), and his brothers
Roy Carter and David Carter(Karen).
He will be forever loved and missed immensely.
