John “Eric” Gunn blessed us with 48 years of life. Born on December 9, 1972, son of John Gunn, in Shreveport, LA. Eric is the loving husband of Brandi Gunn for 14 years. He also blessed this world with 4 amazing children, Blake, Brook, Kayden, and Presley. Son of God, protector of family and friends, and passionate teacher to anyone willing to learn. Eric’s life work embodied all of those things. A brave firefighter and paramedic in various capacities for 22 years, including Texarkana Fire Department and Arkansas Fire Academy. Eric was also an independent fire fighter contractor in Iraq and Afghanistan teaching fire suppression to military personnel. In recent years, Eric owned and operated K&P Media (a real estate photography business), Rapid Response Training (a personal protection and firearm training), and Fast Cut Knife Sharpening (a business that he and Kayden worked together), and security services with SafeHaven Security Group. Eric had an amazing work ethic that we all valued and admired.
Eric loved the Lord first and foremost. Eric was an active member of First Baptist Church in Bentonville with his family. He was always willing to volunteer and be involved with his church. Eric was a trail guide with the Trail Life program at First Baptist Church, where he taught outdoor skills to young men. In addition, as a member of the Safety and Security team, it would also be common to see Eric walking the halls of the church and overseeing various events like Vacation Bible School, The Weekend, and Fall Fest. When the doors are open at his church, you’d find him and his family there.
Eric would be best described by his friends as a servant of the Lord, teacher, protector, dependable friend, and trusted ally. There is an irreplaceable void with losing Eric, but the way he touched our lives is priceless. Eric went home to be with the Lord on October 9th, 2021. He is survived by his wife Brandi Gunn of Bentonville; son, Seaman Blake Gunn (Navy) of Texarkana; daughter, Brook Gunn; son, Kayden Gunn; and daughter, Presley Kaye Gunn, all of Bentonville; Father, John Gunn of Rogers; in-laws, Kelly and Terri Simon of Bentonville; and many extended family members. He was preceded in death by mother in law, Sandra Kaye Gill and other aunts, uncles and cousins.
A visitation will be held on Saturday October 16, 2021 from 2:00 to 3:00 at First Baptist Church of Bentonville, with a celebration of life to follow at 3:00. A private burial will be held at Bentonville City Cemetery.
