Elizabeth Louise McCloud Vann, age 92, of Texarkana, Texas
went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 10, 2021.
Another one of our “greatest generation”, as Tom Brokaw called them, has passed on to Heaven.
Louise was born October 20, 1928, in Bogata, Tx. to Travis and
Maggie Solomon. She grew up on the cotton farm during the
depression. In high school she was dating Hartley McCloud when
he was drafted into the Army. He fought in WWII until he was shot
in Bitche, France. After recovering from his injuries Hartley
returned home and later they married. They moved to Texarkana to raise their two sons, Scott and Keith, and made a wonderful life together until his passing in 1986.
Louise traveled a lot during this time period including trips with her
Golden Girls and church groups all over the world. Later she met
and married Bill Vann, who was also a veteran who had served in
the Navy during the Korean War. They enjoyed camping in his
trailer, gardening together, and attending church until his passing in 2006.
Louise was a retired secretary from TISD schools. She was a
Christian and most recently a member of First Baptist Redwater.
She kept her sons in church when they were young and for that
they are eternally grateful. She had also been a Cub Scout den
leader, 4H leader, and active in THEOS.
She loved her grandchildren, and they called her Weezie. They
had great times playing in her big house and swimming in her
pool.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents and her two
husbands, and one brother Doyle Solomon.
Louise is survived by two sons and daughter in laws, Scott and
Lisa McCloud of Shreveport and Keith and Loretta McCloud of
Wake Village; four grandchildren- Allison Cooke and husband Joel, Mason McCloud and wife Nikki; Ryan McCloud, and Jacob McCloud and wife Jenny; and one great grandson, Samuel McCloud, along with nephews and other relatives and friends.
The family would like to especially thank Cornerstone and Bunch
Woodview for their years of providing for Louise, and Dierksen Hospice. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Redwater First Baptist Church building fund.
Visitation will be October 13 from 5:30-7 at East Funeral Home on
Moores Lane.
Services will be at 10 am on Thursday October 14 at East Funeral Home on Moores Lane with Mike Powell officiating, with burial in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
