Dr. Larry Peebles was son, husband, father, grandfather many times over as well as great-grandfather, physician, friend, soldier, faithful follower of Christ, traveler of the World, and friend. This man with so many adjectives to his name passed from this world on October 31, 2021 in hometown of Texarkana, TX at the age of 83.
Dr. Peebles lived his life with “ his face always toward the sunshine”. Born in Smyrna, TN, but grew up in Saratoga, Arkansas where he learned a love for sports and an unrelenting love for God. He graduated as valedictorian of his high school class before heading to Harding University where he played basketball and baseball and met the love of his life Tish Peebles. After Harding, he attended University of Arkansas Medical School to become a physician while also playing semi-pro basketball and baseball. He joined the U.S. Air Force and eventually became a major before being honorably discharged. Larry and Tish were married for 61 years. Together they moved to Texarkana where he practiced medicine starting in 1965. First, in family medicine, then, specializing in radiology. They had three children and enjoyed traveling the world together as a family.
Dr. Peebles was preceded in death by his wife, Tish Maynard Peebles, his parents, M. H. and Nannie Katherine Peebles; and his brother Harvey Peebles.
His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his children and their spouses; Laura Peebles Fidone and Jeff Fidone M.D., daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Skipper and Will Simmons; and son and daughter-in-law; Drs. Mason and Lynda Peebles; grandchildren, Keri and Matt Duren, Erin and Kalap Gonzales, Clint Fidone, Dr. Josh and Ashley Eichhorn, Rhen and Michael Guymon, Emma Eichhorn, Sagen Simmons, Kaylie Peebles and Kason Peebles: great grandchildren, Titus Gonzales, Addi Eichhorn and Rhett Eichhorn, Ally and Gracie Simmons and Everest Guymon; brothers, Dr. David Peebles and Dr. Sammy Peebles; and many other family members.
A Celebration of Life service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday , November 6, 2021 at Walnut Church of Christ with Mason Peebles officiating under the direction of East Funeral Home - Moores Lane. Visitation will be at East Funeral Home, Wednesday, November 3 from 12 - 5pm and Thursday, November 4 from 12 - 8pm.
