1947-2021
Richard Eugene Pynes of Auburn, Maine passed in peace Sunday morning Nov 7, 2021 at the age of 74.
Dick graduated from Lewiston High School class of 66 and was drafted to serve in the US Army. Upon his return from the military, Dick began working as a “tire man” at Snow’s tire and Lee’s tire. Dick changed professions working as an “oil man” delivering fuel for Ness Oil where he developed friendships with many of his customers which he valued dearly.
Dick enjoyed motorcycling, snowmobiling, old cars, and clocks. He was a seasonal renter at Beaver Brook Campground where he and his wife Connie, along with family and friends, enjoyed being on the water on their pontoon boat. Most Saturday nights Dick could be found at the Silver Spur in Mechanic Falls where he enjoyed good music and dancing. He loved the two step.
Predeceased by his father Cloyd Pynes, mother Mona A. Ireland, Step-mother Grace (Elderkin) Pynes and brother Cloyd Pynes.
Dick is survived by his wife Connie as well as his extended family, Mother-in-Law Lucienne Hamel, Sister-in-Law Terri Hamel, Brother-in-Law Dan Hamel and wife Donna, Brother-in-Law Don Hamel and partner Sheila Fletcher, Brother-in-Law Dave Hamel and partner Nora Bard, and Sister-in-Law Jane Beaudoin and husband Raymond, and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
Dick and Connie were blessed with numerous friends who have shown an outpouring of love, kindness and support to them both throughout his illness which was greatly appreciated by the family. A special thanks to the “Androscoggin Hospice” for caring for Dick as if he was one of their own.
Visitation will be held Tuesday November 16th 10 am to 12pm with a Celebration of Life following at The Fortin Group 217 Turner St. Auburn.
