Jaime was born on January 1, 1952 in Manila, Philippines to parents Tirso Almazar and Lily Almazar. Beloved husband of Elsa; Loving dad of Maria, Jeff, Kishian, Jeremiah, Joshua and Jacob; Cherished father-in-law and grandfather; Survived by siblings Mercie, Edgardo, Jun, Ismael and Tony. Jaime had two nicknames, "Bobot" and "Jimi". He was called "Bobot" by his parents, siblings, other family members and close friends whom he grew up with. The rest of us who got to meet him or know him when he left his native country, fondly called him "Jimi".
Prior to immigrating to Canada in 1996, Jimi worked in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) for 15 years in different capacities but for the most part was employed by Al Bank Al Saudi Al Fransi. There were countless joyous and significant events in his life in KSA. The best part, besides meeting his wife, Elsa, and the birth of their sons, Jeremiah, Joshua and Jacob was the day when he surrendered his life to Jesus Christ. He became a born-again Christian in 1992. This momentous and powerful episode ended his alienation to God and was the beginning of his journey in fulfilling his destiny in Christ, culminating in his ordination as pastor on August 8, 2021. Having fought a good fight and having ran his race well, Jesus Christ called him home.
We know that God Almighty, Jesus Christ, has welcomed Jimi in His loving arms. Jimi will be sorely missed by family and friends here on earth. But when our lives are surrendered to Christ, we will meet each other again and we will be together for eternity. This is our blessed assurance.
A visitation and memorial service for Jimi will be held Thursday, December 2, 2021 at First Memorial Funeral Services,1505 Lillooet Road, North Vancouver, BC V7J2J1, followed by a committal service at North Vancouver Cemetery.
