Joanne is survived by her husband, Manuel Caetano; her son Gary Caetano and his wife, Jennifer; and her daughter Janet Caetano-DaSilva and her husband, Fernando; her grandchildren Taylor DaSilva, Logan DaSilva, Blake Caetano, Katelyn DaSilva, and Carter Caetano.
She is also survived by her sister Janie Edwards (Eddie), her sister Diane Alles (Stan), her sister Antoinette Breadmont (Rick), her sister Betty Ann Daughtry (Randy), her sister Carolyn Kutka (Mike) and her sister Denise Lewis. She passes on her legacy of love, faith, and zest for life to numberous Godchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and all who knew her and loved her dearly.
Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Jennie Goulart; brother Anthony J. Goulart; and her nephew Brian Ramos.
Joanne will be remembered for her beautiful soul, generous heart, and sweet spirit; touching more lives than she could ever have imagined. She spent much of her time helping and giving to others. She loved fiercly with an open heart which was always welcoming and nonjudgemental.
Most of her career was working as a teacher's aide at American Union Elementary School where she touched the lives of many students. Later she worked at Martin's Silk and Dry Flowers. Joanne was very creative and enjoyed making arrangements, filling baskets, and decorating.
For many years, Joanne lead the CCD classes at St. Jude's Church in Easton. Her favorite class to teach was First Communion. She was also very involved in the St. Anthony Portuguese Club in Easton and the CPDES Portuguese Club in Easton. You could find her helping and organizing many Portuguese parades and festas. She was heavily involved in the Altar Guild at St. Jude's Church. Recently she had joined the Silver Angels at St. Anthony of Padua Church. Joanne was always ready and willing to help and be a servant leader to family, friends, and organizations.
Joanne enjoyed spending time with family and friends more than anything. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy. She also enjoyed her outlings with friends and family, her weekly poker groups, planning parties, and decorating for holidays. She made a lasting imprint on many hearts and showed Jesus' love in her many kind acts. She will be missed greatly and forever be in our hearts.
A visitation for Joanne will be held Wednesday, December 1, 2021 from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. A Recitation of the Holy Rosary will follow at 6:30 p.m. at Whitehurst Sullivan Burns & Blair Funeral Home, 836 E Nees Ave, Fresno, California.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at The Shrine of St. Therese Catholic Church, 1444 N. Wishon Ave., Fresno, California 93728. Interment will follow at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, 264 N Blythe Ave, Fresno, California 93706.
Serving as pallbearers are nephews; Ken Ramos, Stan Alles Jr., Randy Daughtry, Ryan Clay, Preston Lewis, Samer Abughazaleh, and grandsons; Logan DaSilva, Blake Caetano, Carter Caetano.
