Gordon Ralph Gaenzle Sr, a long time resident of El Paso, left this world for his heavenly home on November 16th after battling a brief illness. He leaves behind 3 children, Brenda Prieto and her husband Armando, of El Paso, Dianne Young of Ruidoso Downs, and Gordon Gaenzle Jr and his wife Kerrin of Austin. He also leaves 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He also is survived by his brother Ron Gaenzle of El Paso.
Gordon was born in Blair County Pennsylvania on January 12, 1929 to Walter and Loretta Gaenzle. When Gordon was in grade school the family moved to the El Paso area. Gordon graduated from Austin High school in 1946.
Gordon joined the army and served in the occupation force in Japan. He was very proud of his military service as well as that of his brothers. He loved his country very much.
After returning from Japan, Gordon attended University of Texas at El Paso. (Texas Western) After graduating, he then began his career with Whites Home and Auto in Fox Plaza and stayed with Whites as general manager until the company went out of business in 1976.
After leaving Whites, he worked with Christian Schools of El Paso and then with his brother Jay as an investment and financial consultant.
Gordon met the love of his life, Arlene Pierce and they were married November 6th, 1949. They were married for 72 years at the time of her passing in 2020.
Gordon was a devout Christian and served as both a deacon and an Elder with much of that time spent at Eastwood church of Christ. Along with his wife Arlene, they spent their years serving the Lord, their community and church.
You would most likely find Gordon working in his garage or on his yard. He enjoyed making his yard beautiful. You might also find him up on a ladder fixing whatever might need repair at home or church.
His family will miss him greatly.
There will be a military honor Internment at 9:00 AM on Saturday, November 20 at Restlawn on Dyer, with the memorial service following at 10:30 AM at Eastwood Church of Christ on album street.
