Patricia was born in Brooklyn, New York on September 12, 1949 and was the oldest of six children of the late Loretta and Samuel Mazzei. She is survived by her brothers Anthony, Joseph, Samuel and her sisters JoAnn and Mary.
Patricia married Joseph Amento Sr. in 1977 in Queens, New York. They moved to Winter Springs, Florida in 1988 to raise their two boys, Samuel (Sammy) and Joseph Jr. (Joey) Amento. Her greatest joy was to be involved at her son's school by volunteering, serving on the PTA board and assisting in the music room at Red Bug Elementary School. Many strong friendships were made on those school grounds and these friends are like family now. While at Red Bug Elementary, she received an award for volunteering over 1,000 hours of her time in 1994.
Patricia was very close to her mother Loretta, who lived nearby. When Loretta fell ill, Patricia was there at her side to take care of her until she passed in 1996. After her passing, Patricia worked at Willa Springs Apartments for many years in the leasing office and helped out in the maintenance department. She did everything with a smile on her face and kindness in her heart, befriending many residents along the way.
When her grandson Daniel started Sterling Park Elementary in 2007, Patricia went back into the school, volunteering like she did when her boys were young. Her passion for children was her true calling and the students gravitated to her. She volunteered in the cafeteria, book fairs, holiday shoppe and in the classroom. She again was awarded Dividend of the Year, logging over 1,000 hours at Sterling Park Elementary, Patricia did such a fantastic job in the cafeteria that the school hired her to work there. She was no stranger to the kitchen, she could make the most delicious eggplant parmigiana and the children loved having her around permanently. In 2014, she won Employee of the Year at Sterling Park Elementary by the Seminole County Public School. Due to her illness, she had to stop working in 2017. The administrators and teachers were some of her very dearest friends that still came by to encourage her with their Thursday visits or by going out to eat lunch at her favorite restaurant, Chik-fil-A. She truly loved her friends and I know they will keep her memory alive for years to come!
