Janice Fletcher passed away on November 15, 2021 in her daughter’s home in Sandy Springs, GA. She was surrounded by her three daughters, Emily Fletcher-Davis, Corrie Fletcher, and Leanne Nichols. Janice had been diagnosed with terminal cancer five months earlier and was living with her oldest daughter, Emily, in Sandy Springs while receiving treatment at Emory. Apart from this, Janice lived her entire 69 years in Columbus, GA, where she was a schoolteacher and an active member of Edgewood Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Billy Fletcher, who passed away in September of 2012. They shared a deep and enduring love, and Janice missed him greatly.
Janice taught school for over 38 years, primarily at Christian Heritage Academy and Calvary Christian School. She considered it a great privilege to watch the children she taught grow into adults who love and serve the Lord. She impacted the lives of so many children and families, who continued to reach out in gratitude and appreciation even well into adulthood. But what Janice Fletcher loved most in life was simply spending time with friends and family.
In addition to her daughters, Janice is survived by her sons-in-law, Andrew Davis and Jared Nichols, and six grandchildren: Connor Davis, Caden Davis, Cullen Davis, Willow Davis, Rylan Nichols, and Asa Nichols. She is also survived by her sister, Linda Hendrick.
Family will visit with friends on Sunday November 21, 2021 at Edgewood Baptist Church 3564 Forrest Rd. Columbus, GA 31907 from 1:30 PM until 3:00 PM. A service to celebrate her life will be at 3:00 PM at the church with Reverend Jonathan Merritt officiating. Janice will be laid to rest in Parkhill Cemetery on Monday November 22, 2021 with her family in attendance.
