HARRIS, Deretha A., 73, of Plant City, passed away Wednesday, November 17, 2021. She’s survived by her loving husband, Eric G. Harris and daughter, Heather L. Harris, along with siblings: Dorothy Thomas, Ben Bane, Marie Edwards, Betty Frier, David Bane, and Terry Bane.
She worked in finance but her passion was in the written word. She was an accomplished writer, having three children's books published along with several poems for the National Library of Poems and Treasured Poems of America. She was even called upon to assist families of loved ones that have passed, to write their eulogies, using her gift for compassionate writing. She loved to travel, having seen most of Europe, Israel, and the United States. Her commitment to her faith was unbreakable. She worked with the Youth group, Sunday school, Meals on Wheels, food programs for the socioeconomically challenged and was a lay pastor. As a hobby she raised Monarch butterflies to release into the neighborhood for added beauty and enjoyment for all. Another hobby, passion even, was antiquing with her husband. She was passionate in her generosity and charity for those in need. She is now with the Lord, our maker, in peace.
The family will receive family and friends for Visitation between 10 and 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at Blount & Curry Funeral Home at Garden of Memories, 4207 E. Lake Ave., Tampa, FL 33610. Services will begin at 11 a.m. at the Funeral Home, followed by Entombment at Garden Of Memories Cemetery.
