Rick was born on May 31st, 1961, in Denver, Colorado.
He was a hardworking, dedicated mechanic and wood working hobbyist in his spare time. He was an avid outdoorsman and hunter of big and small game, spending many of his weekends in his earlier days fishing with his dad and more recently in the mountains with family.
Rick was an amazing role model, not only for his children but for everyone in his life. He brought joy to many with his humor, pranks and the wise words he would share. A very generous and giving man to anyone who knew him as seen when he made meals for people, created things with his wood working skills, and playing Santa, handing out candy canes and Christmas donations to needy families. Rick was in good health for most of his life and was energized by hard work, he took great pride in getting up every morning and going to work, a work ethic that he passed on to his children. Rick may have been hardheaded and stubborn often, things were always his way or no way, but he would always take care of others and forget to take care of himself.
Rick was preceded in death by his wife Annette Applehans (Viglione), and by his father Robert Applehans. He is survived by his mother Myra Yvonne Applehans (Eastin); children Nicole Lewis (Applehans), Greg Applehans; Brittany Way, Travis Lewis; grandchildren Skye Applehans, Cash Applehans, James Lewis, Allison Lewis, Logan Lewis; sibling Lori Lucero (Applehans), Cindy Conwell (Applehans)
To respect Rick’s wishes Funeral Services will not be held instead there will be a Celebration of Life to honor and celebrate his life and many accomplishments. The time and place are still to be determined – the family will keep everyone who may wish to attend informed as plans are made.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to aid with expenses may be made to the family by visiting his online memorial page linked below.
There are insufficient words to express the man that we all loved very much. He will truly be missed; the world was made a better place for every life he touched.
