Carolyn grew up in Deer Creek, OK where she attended Deer Creek High School and played basketball. She worked in a drapery department in her early years before landing a job at the physical plant services of Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, OK, for fourteen years. She then started her own drapery business, Burnell’s Custom Drapery, in 1997, which she ran for several years.
Carolyn resided in Piedmont, OK. She enjoyed going to the races at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds, fishing and relaxing at the cabin on Lake Tenkiller, gardening, canning, cooking, playing and singing music, watching Wheel of Fortune and Thunder games, annual girls weekends at the cabin, and spending time with family and friends.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her mother, Erma Jean Perry; father, Leon George Perry; brothers, Jimmy Leon Perry and Robert Wayne Perry; and stepson, Johnny Burnell, JR.
She is survived by her husband, Johnny Burnell of Piedmont, OK; daughter and son-in-law, Jeannie and George Houston of Minco, OK; son, Christopher Dearneal of Yukon, OK; stepdaughter, Christina Burnell of Yukon, OK; sister-in-law, Lisa Ball of Fort Worth, TX; 12 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.
