Bill had a successful Army career that spanned 33 years from the rank of Private to Colonel. During his tenure in the Army, he lived on three continents and served two combat tours as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam where he was shot down and wounded, receiving the Purple Heart. One of the highlights of Colonel Dismukes’ career was his two years as the commander of the 125th ATC Battalion in South Korea.
After retirement Bill started his second career managing government IT contracts for the next 20 years. Finally, he traded his busy professional life into leisure time - golfing, fishing, boating and traveling. He also became a very active member of The Military Order of the Purple Heart both locally and statewide.
Bill will be greatly missed by his family and vast circle of friends and colleagues. We lost a great soldier, hero and friend.
He will be in our hearts forever.
