He was born to Colquitt and Lois Skidmore on October 2, 1946 in Salina, Kansas. He grew up with a large family, including two sisters, two brothers, and countless friends. Known to many as “Bobby” or “Skid,” Robert would later enlist in the United States Marine Corps. He served as a machine gunner in The Vietnam War where he made additional lifelong friendships. Robert would spend the working years of his life in the food, beverage and grocery industry where he was employed as a salesman, ultimately retiring in 2005.
Robert was married to Sharon Kay Skidmore for over 40 years. They had one child, Robert G. Skidmore, Jr., who would later marry Lisa Button-Skidmore and have two children, Cayden and Cameron. Robert was a proud father and grandfather and enjoyed time with his family. He especially enjoyed tagging along with his wife, Sharon, to various casinos where she would enjoy the slot machines and he would enjoy the food.
He is survived by his son, Robert G. Skidmore, Jr., and his family, Lisa, Cayden and Cameron, his brother and his wife, John and Vivian Skidmore and family, his sister Nancy Stone, his other sister and her husband, Mary and Chris Prince and family, and countless other friends who he’d met through the years.
