Marie was born November 19, 1933, the youngest child of Rose and Vito Giaccio. She grew up in Corona with her 3 older brothers and attended Newton High School and Queens College. Upon graduation, she taught at a private school in Kew Gardens and retired from teaching to take on the dual roles of being the devoted wife and companion to Joseph, her husband of 49 years, until his death in 2006, and loving and caring mother to her sons – Robert and John.
Family was always the first and foremost priority in Marie’s life, but she somehow found time for other activities as well. In between helping her sons with schoolwork, she tutored students at her home. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and playing games with her family. And Marie had a special talent with arts and crafts, particularly crocheting and creating decorations which adorned each room of the house. Her bright smile and easy going personality will be greatly missed.
Besides her sons, John and Robert and daughter in law Karen, Marie is survived by her 3 beloved grandchildren - Matthew, Danielle and Kayla and 2 great-grandchildren, Landon and Maeve.
