James Berry, 91 of El Dorado passed away November 24, 2021, at Courtyard Rehabilitation and Health Center. He was born August 19, 1930, to John and Julia Hodges Berry. He married the love of his life, Betty McGaugh, on October 4, 1957.
James loved God, his family, and his many friends. He studied the bible daily and believed every word of it. James never met a stranger and would talk to whoever would listen. He was a long time, faithful member of Smackover Assembly of God and retired from Cross Refinery.
James is preceded in death by his parents; the love of his life, Betty Berry; sister and brother-in-law, Nadine and Leonard Williams; a brother and sister-in-law, Wallace and Lucille Berry; sister, Frances Gilmore; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Jerrell Agee; sister, Lois Williams, two nephews, Wayne William and Colvin Gilmore; one niece, Mary Walker; sisters-in-law, Udell Berry, Bobbie Langley, and Ethel Jean Jackson and brother-in-law Julius Carelock.
Survivors include one brother, John Berry of El Dorado; a host of nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Buddy McGaugh (Waunita); sister-in-law, Patsy Carelock both of El Dorado; brother-in-law, Jay Jackson of Nashville, TN; brother-in-law, Donald Langley of Three Creeks; and his many friends.
Graveside services will be 1:30 P.M., Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Smackover Cemetery preceded by a 1:00 P.M. visitation.
