Fred Orval Barton, of Sapulpa, was born Saturday September 21, 1918 in Big Cabin, Oklahoma to Jesse F. and Austa Burt Barton and he died Monday February 15, 2010 in Claremore at the age of 91 years, 4 months and 24 days.
Mr. Barton was retired from Braden Winch Company in Tulsa where is worked as a Tool Dresser. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II in Central Europe as a Reconnaissance & Intelligence Officer. During his time of service he was awarded the EAME Theater Ribbon with one Bronze Service Star and a Purple Heart He was discharged in 1949 and held the rank of Second Lieutenant.
Mr. Barton is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Armilda Barton; brothers, Mervin and Wayne Barton.
He is survived by his sister, Virginia Rake of Florida; step-sons and daughter-in-law, Carl & Ann Newman of Sapulpa, Forrest Ring of Florida; nephews and wives, Arthur & Sue Barton of Tulsa, Jerry McKee of Michigan, Douglas Barton of Catoosa; Nieces and husbands, Dolores Miller of Florida, Judy & Ralph Dearinger of Sapulpa.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Monday February 22, 2010 at the Reed~Culver Funeral Home Chapel in Tahlequah with Chaplain John Lay officiating. Burial will follow at Ft. Gibson National Cemetery in Ft. Gibson.
Visitation will be Saturday from 8:00 am until 2:00 pm and Sunday from Noon until 6:00 pm.
