LIZELLA – William R. Albright, 70, passed away on Thursday, April 1, 2010 in a local hospital after an extended illness. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Brad Marchman will officiate. The family will meet friends from 6 – 9 p.m. Monday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue. They suggest that those who wish make memorial contributions to Lawrence Drive Baptist Church, 5775 School Road, Macon 31216.
Known as “Bill” to friends and “Bubby” to his family, Mr. Albright was born in Louisville, KY and had lived in Macon area the past thirty-two years. He was a fab tech retired from Brown and Williamson with thirty-five years service. He was an avid landscaper and was of the Baptist Faith.
Mr. Albright was a former Skeet-Shot Champion at Ocmulgee Gun Club and was a member of Oak Haven Golf Course and Dixie Seniors I & II. He loved sports and was a great fan of the Atlanta Braves, the University of Kentucky and the University of Louisville. Mr. Albright was preceded in death by his father, James Thomas Albright.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-three years, Opal Long Albright; two sons, Gerald Albright and Doug Albright of Lizella; daughter and son-in-law, Lana Albright (Buddy) Butler; two granddaughters, Kayla and Kirsten Albright; his mother, Virginia Hawkins of Louisville, KY; brother, Thomas E. Albright of Clarkson, KY; sisters, Delma Pearl of Louisville, KY and Bonnie Huen of Fairdale, KY; several nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Onetta Myers and good friends, Russell Sneed and George Parker and all his golfing Buddies.
Snow’s Memorial Chapel Funeral and Cremation Services, Pio Nono Avenue has charge of arrangements.
