Frank L. Addington, 81, passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at Kansas City Hospice House. Frank was born January 24, 1929, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Harold L. and Margarete Addington. He graduated from Bishop Ward High School in 1946 and married his high school sweetheart, Eunice Leinen on June 24, 1950. Together they raised five children. Frank was a man of great faith. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Overland Park, Kansas for 41 years, serving as a Knight of Columbus, lector, usher and a member of the Sunshine Club. As a young man he excelled at many different jobs, but spent most of his career in sales and management with McKesson Chemical, known today as Univar. He retired in 1991 after 36 years with the company. He valued his membership with the Kansas City Paint and Coatings Association as Golf Committee chairman, president and honorary member. Golf was a lifelong passion. He was an active member of the Golf Collectors Association and spent many years making custom golf clubs for others. Through this he formed many lasting friendships. He was a member of the Heart of America Golf Course Superintendent Association for more than 20 years. Frank was a kind and generous man. He will be remembered by his family and friends for his humorous storytelling, his wealth of information and his amazing ability to remember details about people, places and events. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Eunice, his brother Harold and his sister Patricia. He is survived by his five children: Janice and husband Steve Woodring, Springfield, Missouri, Linda and husband Dan Zwego, Marion, Iowa, Frank and wife Lori Addington, Overland Park, Kansas, Joe and wife Kathy Addington, Olathe, Kansas, and Tom and wife Shelly Addington, Ozark, Missouri; 12 grandchildren: Stephanie Scroggs, Michael and Christina Woodring, Jeff, Karin and Wendy Zwego, Kristen Coulson, Jennifer Addington-Wendel, Amy Addington- Wiedenmann, Andrew Addington, Blake and Brett Addington; seven great grandchildren: Tyler, Bailey and Matthew Scroggs, Zachary Woodring, Connor and Kaylei Wiedenmann and Aiden Wendel; his cousin Clarence Knutsen and wife Judy of Stockton, California, and many nieces and nephews. Thank you to all of the wonderful doctors, nurses and caregivers who cared for Frank throughout his illness. A special thank you, from his children, goes to everyone at Kansas City Hospice House. Friends are invited to join his family in the celebration of his life. Visitation will held Monday, May 31, at the McGilley State Line Chapel, 12301 State Line Road, Kansas City, Missouri, from 6 to 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, June 1, 11 a.m., at Church of the Holy Cross, 8311 W. 93rd St., Overland Park, Kansas. Burial at Resurrection Cemetery following the Mass.
