He was born on February 20, 1916 in Providence, RI. Roger was a Colonel in the United States Army, serving in World War II, landing on Omaha Beach on D-Day. He received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He was a graduate of MIT, Class of 1937.
He was a member of the R.I. Engineering Society, Providence Engineering Society, Military Order of Foreign Wars of the U.S., Society of American Military Engineers. He worked for the Army Corp of Engineer’s for many years. One of his biggest hobbies was amateur radio.
Besides his loving wife, he leaves three children, Cheryl A. Powell and husband Dr. Jeffrey Powell of New London, NH, Shorey A. Condon of Golden, CO, Clayton R. Albiston and wife Debi Albiston of Marco Island, FL, six grandchildren, Dr. Kristen A. Powell of Kewaunee, WI, J. Todd Powell of Columbia, SC, Matthew Condon of Boulder, CO, Brooke Albiston of Seal Beach, CA, Neeley Condon of Boulder, Co, S. Drew Condon of Boulder, CO, two great-granddaughters Lizzie and Katie of Kewaunee, WI.
His graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in Swan Point Cemetery, 585 Blackstone Boulevard, Providence, R.I.
