Mr. Carter proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII at the young age of 16. He was stationed on the Princeton aircraft carrier working with the radar and radio. After returning from the war he graduated from Ohio State University in 1950 with a degree in accounting, where he was a member in the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. In 1956, he married the love of his life Peggy Brooks at Munger Place Baptist Church in Dallas, TX. He then went on to graduate from Harvard Business School (AMP). Mr. Carter retired after 35 faithful years with Kraft Foods where he was the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Domestic and International Operations. He was a member of the Financial Executive Institute for 45 years, as well as a member of the Northway Christian Church in Dallas. Chuck was a dedicated golfer that enjoyed the camaraderie and friendship of his circle of golfing friends at the Sunset Ridge Country Club in Chicago and the Eastern Hill Country Club in Garland where he was a member. Upon retiring from Kraft, Chuck and Peggy made their home in the Glen Lakes Community, during these years the Carters had the pleasure of traveling extensively.
Mr. Charles is survived by his wife of 53 years Peggy, two daughters, Kelli Knight of Austin, TX, Kerri Daly and husband Kieran of Mobil, AL; six grandchildren, Rachel Knight, Kira Daly, Christopher Knight, Kaci Daly, Jack Daly, and Jami Daly, one sister Mary Jenkins and husband Don of Ironton, OH; one brother-in-law, Thurman Brooks Jr. of TN; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A memorial service will be held at the Northway Christian Church, 7202 W. NW Highway, Dallas, TX 75225 at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, June 19, 2010.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes contributions be made to the Northway Christian Endowment Fund for Missions.
