Domenica “Minnie” Sohigian, 95, passed away Friday, June 25, 2010 at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Kurragin “Cookie” Sohigian. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Giosaffatto and Antonetta (Calvano) DiMichele.
Minnie was an active member of the Santa Maria Circle - Daughters of Isabella for many years. She was last employed as a Supervisor for FWF Industries, Inc. and was also a nurse’s aide at Roger Williams Medical Center.
She is survived by her beloved daughters, Joanne (Ronald) Burger of North Providence and Nancy Sohigian with whom she resided. She also leaves two granddaughters, Nanette (Christopher) Cote of Northbridge, MA and Jennifer (Matthew) Cohn of Cranston along with three great-grandchildren, Drake Cote, Ella and Abby Cohn.
Minnie was the sister of Nascenzio (Pauline) DiMichele, Margaret Mignacca, Josephine Carrier and Adeline (Joseph) Banick and the late Nunzio, Frederic, Violet, and Rosalie DiMichele, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Monday, 4-8 p.m. with a funeral on Tuesday at 10 a.m. from the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be concelebrated at 11 a.m. in St. Ann Church, 280 Hawkins Street, Providence, followed by a graveside burial in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket.
