Mrs. Caridad Abellera was born on April 21, 1920 in La Union, Philippines. She was the daughter of Nicholas and Catalina Colcol. Caridad spent her youth in the Philippines where she was raised with six siblings. They were Lorenzo Colcol, Eusebia Abenes, Bonifacio Colcol, Mariano Colcol, Guillerma Vergara and Concepcion Campos.
Caridad exchanged wedding vows with her sweetheart Alejandro P. Abellera in La Union, Philippines. She was empathic and loyal to Alejandro and was committed to making her new family happy.
Caridad worked hard to be an excellent mother to her children and did her best to fulfill their needs. Caridad was blessed with seven children and their spouses, five sons, Rudy (Pilar), Rogelio (Noemi), Ernesto (Bernadette), Roberto (Lina) ,Eduardo (Charito), and two daughters, Elizabeth (Ray Daniels) and Priscilla (David Thresher). Another blessing for Caridad was the gift of twenty two grandchildren, Darren, Alex, Allen, Teresita, Bernardino, Yolly, Gerry, Winnie, Clifford, Jefferson, Lloyd, Sheryl, Karen, Ernel, Harold, Marjorie, Marietta, Ferdinand, Riza, Sheila, Ian, and Julian.
Caridad accomplished much throughout her lifetime including teaching herself to read, becoming a healer through the use of her hands, working many hours as a laundry woman in order to help support and fund her children's education, and most of all, becoming the matriarch of a family of three generations.
Caridad passed away on September 28, 2010 at Escondido Care Center in Escondido, California. Caridad passed away due to natural causes. She is survived by her children, Elizabeth Daniels, Rogelio Abellera, Ernesto Abellera, Eduardo Abellera and Priscilla Thresher; children-in-law, Noemi Abellera, Bernadette Abellera, Lina Abellera and Charito Abellera; her grandchildren, Darren, Alex, Allen, Teresita, Bernardino, Yolly, Gerry, Winnie, Clifford, Jefferson, Lloyd, Sheryl, Karen, Ernel, Harold, Marjorie, Marietta, Ferdinand, Riza, Sheila, Ian and Julian. Services were held at The Little Chapel of the Roses on October 6, 2010. Caridad was laid to rest in Greenwood Memorial Park in San Diego, California.
Simply stated, Caridad was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Caridad leaves behind her a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life she touched will always remember Mrs. Caridad Abellera.
