Thelma E. Bortz, age 89, passed away on Tuesday October 12, 2010 at Holy Redeemer Hospital in Meadowbrook. Born in Philadelphia, PA; Thelma was the Daughter of the late Joseph and Edith Becker. She was a longtime resident of Huntingdon Valley, PA.
Mrs. Bortz was a Telephone Operator for Bell of PA, a Cafeteria aide for the Pine Road Elementary School in Lower Moreland for many years, and she taught Sunday school at Huntingdon Valley United Methodist Church for over 45 years. Thelma was a talented creator of handcrafted items, especially knitting. She alongside with her husband enjoyed the hobby of Railroading; traveling all over the country. Thelma loved spending her time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Thelma was the beloved wife of John H. Sr. married over 68 years. She was the loving mother of Joanne (Bill) Kerr, John H. Bortz Sr., Barbara Bortz, Richard (Maria) Bortz, and David (Corale) Bortz. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren Robin, Brian, Ashley, David, Michael, Lauren, great Grandchildren Calum , Rowan and by all who knew her. Thelma was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 2 brothers.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Service Monday October 18, 2010; 11a.m. at the Huntingdon Valley United Methodist Church; Byberry Rd. And Huntingdon Pike. Friends may call on the family from 10a.m. until time of service. Her Interment will be at George Washington Memorial Park.
