KEITH PERRY ADNEY, 53, lost his battle with brain cancer October 26, 2010 at St. Peter’s Hospital in Hamilton, Ontario Canada where he had resided for many years. He was born November 14, 1956, and leaves his parents, O. P. ‘’Sonny’’ and Linda Adney and his maternal grandmother, Carmen Freeman all of Memphis. He also leaves his daughter, Christina Adney and grandson Quinton Paul Gattuso of Nesbit, MS. Other survivors are his brother Kevin (Julie) of Dunedin, FL and their children, Joelle (Adam) Heft, Kristyn Adney, Kaylie Adney and Jarron Adney, and his brother, Timothy (Millie) of Lakeland, TN and his children, Alicia (Marcus) Johnson, Stephanie Adney, Nicholas Adney and great-niece, Ashlyn Michelle Johnson. Keith was a graduate of Raleigh- Egypt High School and attended then Memphis State (University of Memphis). He was previously employed by First Tennessee Bank and GST Corporation in Memphis. He was an avid skydiver, an accomplished gardener, and a devoted volunteer for the AIDS Network in Hamilton. Even during his last days he participated in a walkathon while in his wheelchair. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Peter’s and his many friends for their extraordinary care of Keith during his illness.
Friends in Hamilton are asked to gather at TRUSCOTT, BROWN & DWYER FUNERAL CHAPEL (1309 King Street East, across from Gage Park at the delta) on Monday November 1 from 5 pm to 8 pm. A funeral service celebrating Keith's life and accomplishments will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday November 2 at 11 am. As per his wishes, cremation will follow.
Visitation for family and friends in Memphis will be held on Tuesday, November 16, at 1 p.m. in the Salmon Room at Second Presbyterian Church followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. in the Second Presbyterian Church Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the West Cancer Clinic, 100 N. Humphreys, Memphis, TN 38120 or Memphis Union Mission, P.O. Box 1938, Memphis, TN 38101.
