Josephine Eaby Gordon, 96, died Thursday, November 18, 2010. She was born July 28, 1914 in Lancaster, PA to the late Charles W. and Elizabeth (Merritt) Eaby. She was a graduate of Duke University and after graduation was employed by Armstrong Cork Co. until her marriage in 1938 to Roy Charles Kimmerle. The couple divorced in 1960 and in 1969 she was married to the late William Thomas Gordon in Tarrytown, NY. In 1977 they moved to St. Croix where she was a member of the Radio React Team, the Yacht Club, the Duplicate Bridge Club and a 10 year member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. After hurricane Hugo devastated the island in 1989 she moved to Cary where she was a member of the First Reformed Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Jo Kimmerle and Susan Kopkind; grandchildren, Sam Kopkind and Lisa Terwilliger; two great-grandchildren, Nolan and Alexa Terwilliger.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at First Reformed Church of Cary. The family will receive friends afterward at the home of Susan Kopkind.
