Burt joined the Marines in 1952 and fought in the Korean Conflict. After the war, he returned to complete his high school education. While a senior in high school, he was a bus driver for the Rogers School District. After graduating Burt returned to serve in the Marines until 1962. He has worked in the Texas oil fields, several years with Bear Brand Hosiery in Bentonville, and retired from CTS in 1996.
Burt was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Steve Burnett; two sisters, Etheleen Swann and Wanda Coppedge; and one brother, Roland Burnett.
Burt is survived by one sister, Pauline Morrison of Odessa, Texas; two daughters, Sharon and husband Shawki Al-Madhoun, Brenda and husband Jim Branstetter ; three sons, Tipton, Ricky Sr., and Steven Burnett; nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; and numerous close friends.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, December 2, 2010, at 11:00 am at the Bella Vista Church of Christ. Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 1, 2010, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Callison-Lough Funeral Home in Bentonville. Interment will follow at Ruddick Cemetery in Garfield, Arkansas. Arrangements are under the care of Callison-Lough Funeral Home of Bentonville.
