A lifelong resident of Stamford, Ct. passed peacefully on Sunday evening, November 28, 2010. Norma, 91 was born March 3, 1919 in the home that her Grandparents Gaetano and Angelina Maria (Momma Non) Claps built. Norma was predeceased by her Parents August and Caterina (Kate) Claps Gargiulo, her husband Harry Edward Bornhauser, an infant Sister Maria Gargiulo, her Brother Alfred August Gargiulo, and her Sister Alda Rose Gargiulo Giannini and Brother in Law Dr. Salvatore J. Giannini, a Niece Bianca K. Rosa Bucciarelli, a Brother in Law Louis Rosa. Norma is survived by her older sister Libia Madeline Gargiulo Rosa, a Sister in Law Gisele Treberge Gargiulo and Nieces Katie M. Giannini, Allison Bornhauser Mattice and Beverly Bornhauser Smith, her Nephews, Richard August Rosa, Felix (Lex) August Giannini, Alfred Michael Gargiulo, Guy Albert Gargiulo and Mark August Gargiulo and numerous Great Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. Norma was a graduate of the Stamford public school system and the Merrill Business School. Upon graduation, she began a 43 year career at the former Hartford Electric Light Company, now CL & P/Northeast Utilities. Norma was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, which her Grandfather Gaetano helped to build. Norma also was a member of the Rainbow Girls and later, Daughters of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed playing the Organ and was a member of the Stamford Hammond Organ Society. Norma was passionate about politics; spending many hours volunteering in support of her chosen candidates throughout her life. During retirement, Norma and her husband Harry enjoyed spending their winters in Florida in the Spring Hill community. After Harry’s passing Norma began a second career working for the National Association of Electrical Distributors and worked for them as their Executive Secretary for 10 years. Upon entering retirement for the second time, Norma enjoyed various volunteer activities; she spent many years with the" English as a second Language" program at the Stamford Library and volunteered at the American Red Cross and the Tully Center. There will be no calling hours. A Funeral Service will be at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 628 Main Street, Stamford, CT on December 10, 2010 @ 11:00 AM; burial will follow immediately at Woodland Cemetery in the Gargiulo Family plot.
