Josephine Aviles of McGregor died Tuesday morning, December 14, 2010, at the age of 70. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, December 17, 2010, at Cole Funeral Home Chapel, 1113 West Fifth Street, McGregor. Visitation will be 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday at Cole Funereal Home.
Mrs. Aviles was born June 1, 1940, in Cameron, Texas the daughter of the late Antonio and Beatrice (Resendez) Leija where she began her education and later attended Temple High School.
On June 5, 1964, she married Mario Pedro Aviles in Moody, Texas. For many years, she lived in Temple where she was employed by American Desk in the Utility Department prior to moving to McGregor in 1993. Josephine enjoyed caring for others which she was a caretaker for many families through the years. She enjoyed cooking and sewing and was a member of Bethlehem Church in McGregor.
Also preceding her in death were seven brothers.
Survivors include her husband Mario of forty-six years; two sons, Mario Aviles, Jr. and wife Janice of McGregor, Alex Aviles and wife Crystal of Sweetwater; a daughter, Josephine Huerta and husband Alex of Belton; three sisters, Martha Moreno of Temple, Mary Louisa “Vicha” Ramirez and husband Pat of Troy, Irene Pierilvisses of Belton and six grandchildren.
