Betty Bryant Tinney, age 81 of Leeds passed away peacefully on December 25th after a 13 year battle with cancer. Betty was a lifelong resident of Leeds and retired from Lehigh Portland Cement Company. She was a member of Leeds First United Methodist Church and served on the Leeds Tree Commission. Betty was a beautiful person whose courage, wit, generosity and sweetness of spirit never wavered. She was predeceased by her parents, Claude and Estelle Bryant, her brother Claude Bryant Jr., and her husband Jim Tinney.
She is survived by her niece, Jane Bryant Powell (Larry Cost), her sister-in-law Nell Moody Bryant, her brother-in-law, John Tinney, special friends Anne and Hollis Seal and Betty Moore, and dear neighbors Ed and Veleta Shaw and Joe Karr.
The family would like to thank the staff of Birmingham Hematology & Oncology for their care, and especially appreciate the doctors and nurses on 5th West at Trinity Medical Center for their kindness during her last few days.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Kilgroe Funeral Home in Leeds.
Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Leeds.
