Services for Stella M. Austin, 93, formerly of Overland Park, and Kansas City, KS, who passed away Sunday, December 26, 2010 at the Rehabilitation Center of Raymore in Raymore, MO, will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, December 30th at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home. Cremation will follow with Inurnment in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens at a later date. Friends may call from Noon until service time Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to the American Diabetes Association. Stella was born February 16, 1917 in Bonita, Kansas to Ernest A. and Amy L. (Prewitt) Elliott, and she was a lifelong resident of the Kansas City Area. She worked at Kats Drug Store, before it became Skaggs Drug Store, and continued working there after it became Osco Drug, from 1956 until 1978, and she was a member of the Retailers Union. Stella moved to Santa Fe Towers in 1983, and lived there until she moved to Raymore, MO in 2009. While at Santa Fe Towers, she enjoyed spending time in their sewing group, making stuffed animals for local hospitals. Stella also loved Cooking, and Playing Bingo, but she especially enjoyed traveling with her best friend Betty to places such as Hawaii and New Orleans. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 1 grandson, Dale Heckert; 2 daughters, Sherry Golubski and Judy Rose; and her husband Al Austin, Sr., when he passed away in 1972. Survivors include 4 sons, Daniel Austin (Nancy) of Florida, Al Austin, Jr. (Brenda) of Georgia, Dale Austin (Mary Bennett) of Kansas City, MO, and David Austin (Martha) of Overland Park, KS; 1 daughter, Mary Foust (Rick) of Raymore, MO; 1 brother, Leland Elliott of Phoenix, AZ; 17 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren; and her best friend, Betty Honeywell of Camdenton, MO.
