Jesse Cocke, 92, died on Thursday, December 30, 2010 in Bartlett, TX. He was born on June 23, 1918 in Dunbar, Pushmataha County, Oklahoma to Tom and Ludabell (Watkins) Cocke. He was in the Civil Conservation Corp Camp from 1935-37.
Jesse married Sybil L. Griffin on June 21, 1940, that marriage lasted for 70 yrs. He was a member of the First Methodist Church of Bartlett and a member of Masonic Lodge 692 in Bartlett, Jesse was a three times Master of the Lodge.
Jesse was a World War II Army veteran, having served in Europe. After the war Jesse went to work for the Veterans Administration Hospital in Temple, TX retiring in 1980 after 37 yrs of service.
He is survived by his wife, Sybil L Cocke of Bartlett; sons, Jesse Cocke,Jr. and wife Shirley of Stephenville, TX, David L. Cocke of College Station, TX, Dennis F. Cooke of China Spring, TX; three grandchildren Camron Cooke of New York City, NY, Heather Dawn Weihausen of Gatesville, TX and Travis Cooke of China Spring, TX; great-granchildren, Chloe and Colby Weihausen of Gatesville, TX; three brothers, Oscar Cocke of Hughson, California, Bill Cocke of Napa, California, Wayne Cocke of Ville Patte, Louisiana; one sister, Eula Mae of Fort Towson, Oklahoma.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 2, 2011 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Goodnight Funeral Home, 209 E. Prof. Powell in Bartlett, TX.
A Chapel Service will be held on Monday, January 3, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Goodnight Funeral Home, Bartlett, TX. Both Military and Masonic honors will follow. Burial will be at Bartlett City Cemetery.
