Mr. Norbert Joseph Radlick (Norb), of Macomb Township, died at the age of 88 on Thursday, December 30th 2010 in Henry Ford Medical Center, Clinton Township. He was born on August 10, 1922 in Detroit. Proud of being a U.S. Marine, he served during World War II as a staff member of the Marine’s Leatherneck publication. Prior to enlisting in the Marines, he worked at the Wayne County Road Commission and returned after the war to become a real estate appraiser, advancing to the national designation of Member of the Appraisal Institute (MAI). He worked on almost every freeway project in Wayne County until his retirement in 1972, when he established his own real estate appraisal company (Terra Field Services) with Jack Burns. He and his family lived in Detroit for many years before moving to Traverse City, Michigan. Subsequently he and his wife moved to Clinton Township.
His family has always known him as an incredible husband, loving father to the children and fantastic “Poppa” to all the grandchildren. Mr. Radlick was preceded in death by his wife, Antoinette Radlick nee Portelli (Toni), and is survived by his sister Dolores Smith, as well as their seven children-- Michael S. (Lynn) Radlick, Judith (Mark) Mikel, Carolyn (Joseph) Bontomasi, Mary (Walter) DiGregorio, Trisha (Larry) Morath, Janice (Tim) Radlick-Uram, and Kenneth J. Radlick; grandchildren Rebecca Radlick; Jennifer (David) Manzi; Matthew (Jen) and Mark (Annie) Bontomasi; Samantha, Charles, Daniel, and Jessica DiGregorio; Kevin, Michelle, and Megan Morath; and Benjamin and Luke Uram. Also survived by great-granddaughter Sofia Bontomasi. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph Radlick and Hattie Olszewski.
Norb was an avid fisherman and golfer—always bringing joy with him wherever he went. He served for many years as a member of the Knights of Columbus at Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish in Detroit, Amvets and the Polish Century Club. He and Toni enjoyed many years together as members of the Traverse City Country Club.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday in state 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Community, 40501 Hayes, Sterling Heights. Visitation from 2 to 9 PM Sunday at Resurrection Funeral Home, 40800 Hayes Road, South of 18 Mile. Memorial contributions may be addressed to the Red Cross or Gleaners Food Bank.
