Bennie Mauldin Adair, 79, passed away January 5, 2011, at his home. He was born on July 16, 1931, to the late George Barnett and Beatrice Mauldin Adair in Chalybeate, MS. Bennie is survived by his wife of 61 years, Clara Marie Woods Adair; his son, Glenn Adair and daughter-in-law Sharon of Cockrum; his daughter, Karen Ray and son-in-law Barry of Olive Branch; six grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. He retired after 39 years of service at Sears and Roebuck, and 10 years of service with Century 21 Real Estate. Affectionately called “Grannix” by his family, during his life he enjoyed playing Rook, horse shows, camping, hunting, fishing, and he loved to work at home with his cows, horses and tractors. He graduated from Macedonia High School and was a dedicated member of Cockrum United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Friday, January 7, and funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 8, all at Brantley Funeral Home in Olive Branch. Interment will follow in Cockrum Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Cockrum United Methodist Church.
