Born in Brannenburg, Germany on August 25, 1946 he was a Son of George Adelmann Sr. and his wife Chris, of Roseland, N.J. and Teresa (Bachmann) Aldemann of Belleville, N.J.
Herbert was a graduate of Belleville High School, Belleville N.J. and attended The Newark College of Engineering, Newark N.J. Wanting to serve his country, he then enlisted in the U.S. Army, and was an Artillery Surveyor, stationed in Germany and Vietnam. Herb was most recently employed as a Project Manager for Global Projects Services on site at Sanofi Pasteur in Swiftwater, P.A., prior to that, he was he Director of Construction for many years At Resorts USA Inc., in Bushkill, P.A. During his lifetime, Herb enjoyed hunting, fishing, archery, riding his Harley, and most recently he loved to run. He was a member of the Pocono Area Running Club and ran several marathons, including NYC in 2006 and the Pocono Marathon in 2008. He was also a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and served for a time as the President of the VFW Post 282 in Hackettstown, N.J.
He was preceded in death by his step-father, Charles M. Adelmann.
In addition to his parents, Herb is survived by his wife, Ruth (Ruland) Bachmann, his step-children, Rebecca L. Thomas, husband Jeffery and their son, Gavin of Avoca P.A.; Ryan A. Marek of Philadelphia, P.A. and Kevin D. Marek and his daughter, Ava Leigh and finance Danielle Bowers of East Stroudsburg, PA; Brothers; Charles and sister in-law Patricia Adelmann of Bernardsville, P.A.; and George (Corky) and sister in-law Karen Adelmann of Gallaway, N.J. and many other family members and friends.
A gathering for family and friends will be held on Saturday January 22, 2011 at the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home Inc., 27 Washington Street East Stroudsburg from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 P.M. at the funeral home with Rev. Arthur Lenard officiating.
