Juanita Jones Dunn Barger, of Northport, died Jan. 22, 2011, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011, at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Moody Barger; former husband and father of her three children, William Ray Dunn; son, Michael “Mickey” Jerome Dunn; grandson, William Wesley “Wes” Dunn; brothers, Alfred Jones, Leldon Jones, and Nixon Jones; sisters, Marjorie Appling Daniels, Lavora Larson, and Laurette Jones; and two infant grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter, Reta Dunn Sanford (Arnold) of Northport, Ala.; son, Larry Ray Dunn, Sr. of Duncanville, Ala.; daughter-in-law, Wynell Dunn of Livingston, Texas; grandchildren, Arnie Sanford (Leaha), Wendy Sanford Perry (Larry Wayne), Brandi Sanford Hinkle (Patrick), Larry Ray Dunn, Jr., Robert Dunn (Dana), Pammie Dunn Quilliams (Markus), Kimberly Dunn Sealy (Dusty), Tiffany Dunn (Bert), Shelly Dunn Davis (Jeff), Cheri Dunn Black, and Sheila Dunn Jacobs Morgan (Robert); along with 25 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Our mother was a loving person who found joy in being with her children and grandchildren. During her years before her health deteriorated she enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. One of our favorite dishes was her famous fried apple pies.
Pallbearers will be Arnie Sanford, Larry Ray Dunn, Jr., Robert Dunn, Larry Wayne Perry, Patrick Hinkle, Markus Quilliams, Dusty Sealy, and Kirk Patrick.
Honorary pallbearers are Bill and Brenda Rayburn, Joe and Apryl Botto, Nathan and Amberly Mixon, Aubrey Nichols, Jeanette Walters, Brenda Melton, friends of Five Points Baptist Church, Hospice of West Alabama, employees of DCH Angio Unit 2nd floor, employees of Forest Manor Nursing Home Station One, Paul and Anne Lavender, employees of United Parcel Service, Harold and Jean Strachan, and friends, neighbors, and employees of Presbyterian Apartments in Northport.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of West Alabama or the charity of one's choice.
