He was born to Jewel “Judy” Johnson Anthony and William “Tony” Anthony in Marfa, Texas on October 23, 1948.
Mike was raised in Marfa and went on to serve in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and received his Bachelor of Science degree from Sul Ross University in 1973. He worked as a Petroleum Engineer internationally and throughout the United States, specializing in the Permian Basin area, for over thirty-five years. He resided in New Braunfels for the last eight years and was an active member of The National Rifle Association and New Braunfels Sons of Confederate Veterans. Mike was a vivacious man, avid football fan, and loved to travel. He and his wife, Gay, enjoyed vacationing throughout the country in their RV with their dogs.
He leaves behind a loving family and many cherished friends.
He is survived by his wife, Gay Anthony; daughter, Rachel Anthony Barrett and husband Chris; and brother, Robert Anthony and wife Teri.
The memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, February 25, 2011 at Zoeller Funeral Home in New Braunfels. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mike’s honor to The Wounded Warrior Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org).
