Donald High 88, of Nashua, passed away on February 24, 2011 at the Greenbriar Terrace Healthcare Center after a lengthy illness. He was born on November 8, 1922 in Franklinton, NC the son of James and Martha (Smith) Wright. He was educated in the North Carolina School System.
Donald was a World War II US Army veteran serving from 1943 to 1946. He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, the American Theater Medal, the Bronze Service Star and the Victory Medal. He was a member of the Merrimack VFW and the American Legion in Merrimack.
Following his discharge he resided in Boston, MA and relocated to Merrimack, NH in 1988 and later to Nashua. He was employed at Optimum Binary and as a mechanic with the Polaroid Corporation.
Members of his family include his wife of thirty-seven years Hortense “Cookie” High of Nashua, his son Orrin Wright of Germany, two grandchildren Nathalie & Kenneth Wright both of Germany, and his sister Evelyn Crews. He was pre-deceased by his brother Hubert Wright and his two sisters Etrusia Levester and Ernestine Wright.
A calling hour was held on Saturday March 5, 2011 from 11AM to Noon at the St. Laurent Funeral Home, 116 Elm St. Nashua followed immediately by a memorial service. A private burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Donald’s name to the New Beginning Fellowship, 6 Spruce St. Nashua, NH 03060.
