Anderson (Rose Wood), of Verona WI, and Steven J. (Lisa) Anderson, of Westbrook, CT, ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, several cousins, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her beloved husband, Milton (Andy) Anderson, brother William J. Tansey, sister Marian C. Tansey, son-in-law Charles M. Lowe and grandson David J. Norrie. Betty was proud to have been honored by her admission to East Haven High School’s Hall of Fame as the first female class President (1945), and served on her class reunion committee for 65 years. She earned her teaching degree at New Haven State Teacher’s College (now SCSU), and taught third grade at Nathan Hale School, New Haven, becoming an assistant teacher in the Clinton school system for over 25 years. She was a member of the New Haven Jaycees/Jaycee-ettes, and served as President of St. Mary’s Altar Society for several years. Betty was a fun-loving friend to many, getting together with her high school and college friends regularly throughout the years. Many of her former students kept in touch with her, and she had a very special place in her heart for her beloved Michelle. Road trips with Andy were the times of her life, as they traveled near and far on a whim as destinations randomly occurred to them. A life-long music lover, she was a talented pianist who passed her abilities and passion on to her children and grandchildren. Baking was her specialty, and she made beautiful birthday, special occasion and wedding cakes for her family. Many anxiously awaited her famous lemon meringue pies.
