ALLEN, Annie V. Freeland passed away Monday, May 16, 2011 after a brief illness. She was the daughter of the late Harris & Cassie, and was preceded in death by husband of 67 years, Victor C. Allen; two sisters, Christine F. Poorman & Allene F. Durham. Mrs. Allen was born in Portland, TN on January 10, 1916 and grew up in the Oak Grove community of Sumner County. She moved to Old Hickory, TN in 1933. She was a thorough homemaker and an active member of First Baptist Church, Old Hickory where she taught the 7th grade girls Sunday School class for many years, and was involved in all aspects of the life of the church, including the Women’s Missionary Union. Mrs. Allen lived out her faith in Jesus Christ in numerous ways, and will be remembered by all who knew her as a joyful Godly woman who effortlessly wove herself into the lives of her family and friends. She is survived by daughter, Anita (Robert) Redden; grandson, R. Allen (Melanie) Redden; granddaughter, Angela (John) Estes; great-grandsons, Craig Redden, Scott Estes, T. J. Estes; great-granddaughter, Rachel Redden; sisters, Theda Thomas, Lorene Douglas, Jeanette (Bill) Evatt; brothers, Goldman D. (Sarah) Freeland, Donald (Sue) Freeland; and very close extended family. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church Old Hickory with Rev. Judd Hays & Rev. Sturgis Poorman officiating. Interment will follow at Hermitage Memorial Gardens. Family & friends will serve as pallbearers.
